In Finland the seasons are very distinct - the winter covers everything with a pure layer of snow; the summers are warm and relatively dry - the days are long and, the farther north one goes, the nights vary from short darkness to no darkness at all when one crosses the polar circle.

The autumns are a true display of color - in spring the almost luminescent green of the birch trees signals new life.
