PENTTILÄ GARDENS COTTAGES

The van Gogh Apple Tree in blossom
When I was born, my parents already had a reproduction of a blossoming tree by Vincent van Gogh. When we moved to Penttilä we found some remnants of an orchard in the middle of a forested piece of land. This tree had survived in a wilderness of birch trees. The trunk had split many years ago and the part still upright developed into a sort of tree. I cut off the too large branches weighing the tree down to give it a chance to find its balance. During the excavation work for our geothermic heating tubes we saved it. Now it produces many delicious apples each summer.
